Lets hope the owners are not aware of the site or there will be no more, I hope they make the engine room shortly.  Wink

I think they will be pretty soon, I believe that some of the associates of dukeoflancaster.net are in contact with them. They are also linking to the exploration forum from their website. 2+2+?

Naughty, but bloomin' great Nooks - sheesh, she looks untouched from her final sailing in November 1978!

Did you ever sail on her Cambs?

No Nooks, but as a schoolboy remember being taken on board for a tour alongside at D/L during her final year.

Hi big Ron, welcome to the Madcap world of Caergybi.com!

I've heard a few tales of her arrival, but check out Cambria's post reply #25 above. He's an authority on Sealink matters and probably more accurate than most.

Apart from the final positioning, (she was not known for having an accurate rudder), I believe she arrived under her own steam!

Guys, quick introduction. I'm responsible for setting up dukeoflancaster.net and there seems to be a lot of knowledge on this site about all things sealink.

I am really looking to fill in a couple of blanks

1) How did the ship come to be sold to Solitaire

2) Any pictures or first hand stories of her coming into Mostyn

3) Any pictures from her ferry days

4) Any rumours flying around about her future.

I can be contacted at inquiries@dukeoflancaster.net

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers

Willow

this has brought back some memories worked on the Duke of Argyle. Lancaster Rothsay.Antrim Princess.Rhodri.Brian.Brathay Fisher.Maid of Kent when St Columba Gear Box went.Avalon when all the generators blew and we were stuck in Ireland.
I wonder if the glass mirrors in the bar on the Lancaster are still there they were engraved with medieval knights and shelids with coats of arms.
I was on the St Columaba when somebody forgot to stop and we hit the quay and the bow was damaged i was sat in the second class bar when all the beer glasses went flying.first boat i went on as a catering boy was Holyhead ferry one and bill mills was purser.i believe they are recruiting polish labour now times we will never see again

Happy days SC!  But I think you're being a little unfair by saying someone 'forgot to stop'.  Captains in charge of 8,000 ton ships don't forget to stop. I certainly know of three incidents in Dun Laoghaire with the St Columba and St David where the ramp or pier was struck and damage called - two being due to weather and one due to mechanical issues.

About 4 weeks ago I asked how the Duke of Lancaster came into Llanerch-ye-Mor. There has been the usual drivel. Cambria49 or Justin  as we all know who he is and knows everything has not come up with an answer. Do's this mean no one know's. Well done. No photo's of the day, nothing.

Sorry Big Ron that the thread has gone off the topic of the Duke of Lancaster,on forums it does happen but i don't think its far to have a go at Cambria49 and his drivel (your words)most of us find the drivel  interesting.

I looks like nobody seems to have the answer your looking for regarding how she came into Llanerch-ye-Mor.

Big Ron, I hope you find the information you seek, elsewhere.  Can I suggest that your singling out of Cambria49 is a little unfair as I'm sure he has given generously (as he always does) of all the information he has at his disposal.
