I use Vista. It is OK but in my view, no better than XP.

So it's not even a little otter then Baz?

Grin. It's no faster for a stoat and I will badger the shop staff who sold it to me until they ferret around for a better deal for me.

Buy it Porty. I have a brand new computer with Vista on it. It's OK. Any improvements made to the system at a later date will be downloadable I'm sure.

I'd have to say that Windows Vista, looks tidy enough, but underneath the all new feature-rich OS, lies a whole pile of trouble, or from what i've seen so far that is.

Windows XP is a tried and tested system, which does everything very well, so if you don't have to upgrade to Vista, don't, it's just not worth the hassle.

When they phase out XP for a newer OS, then i'd possibly think about upgrading to Vista, only when they've got rid of all the bugs and things that come with new systems.

Hello There  Grin Welcome to cg.com. Post an intro do  Wink
Thanks for the info, the problem for me is the new laptop I want is equipped with Vista, and my copy of XP says I've used up too many installs on it and have to contact customer service. They obviously don't have kids who download crap and mess up your system all the time.  Grrrrrrr Undecided

I have only had vista a couple of weeks here, so far I am managing ok. Did not want to choose vista but the laptop came with it installed, it would have cost me more to have xp installed on a new laptop so decided to give it a go half expecting to format and install xp soon after buying.

Sticking it out and enjoying it so far, office xp and most programs I need run ok. Windows mail is almost identiical to outlook and now my preferred way of emailing. Given the choice though it would be best to stay with xp a while longer me thinks.
