What if a pc's not wireless but connected to the modem, is that safe from these ffernols parked outside the house?

They'd have a strach to park outside my house anyway, it's a blydi nightmare at the best of times trying to find a parking space. Grin

I heard a story of people parking near one of towns Doctor practices and using there wireless network not only free internet but files could be accessed.

Now that's baaad! Thing is, they're probably not allowed to tinker with their own network or hire someone in town to do if for a small fee. Most likely they would have to go through an NHS purchasing system using only £££ approved suppliers £££ and taking forever to get done.

Ah, but is it a true story?  You can't believe everything you read or hear no.  Some unscrupulous people on here have even suggested that a young Administrator of this site is reluctant to purchase expensive pints of Kronenbourg when it's his round.  But in fact he is a very generous person and dips his hand in his pocket with great alacrity and frequency.  Fair play yeah.

You should be safe dols bach.  Just take sensible precautions - firewall, antivirus and spyware killer - think of them as your pack of three.  Or use Linux.

Don't use the same password for everything, never send bank details in an email or enter them in a form you got to by clicking a link in an email.  If it seems too good to be true it usually is, especially if the email comes from Nigeria!
