T is a member of a fraternity. He has a group of "jaargenoten" (yearmates) who all joined in 2010. There is a tradition that at least once in following year, each kids' parents cook for the group. T's is on the 27th Feb. His group consists of 10 very hungry young men between the ages of 19 and 22. So ...anyone suggest a quick, easy, yet fabulously impressive dish I can make to satisfy these lads?
Dessert is Key Lime, Lemon Meringue pies.
So far I'm toying with Nasi Goreng, sate and other stuff to go with it.
Something pasta related.

What about a nice big goulash with herb dumplings, prepare the night before and slow cook the next day, should go down a treat.

I think you are on the right track there Reens, Nasi Goreng, loads of chicken sate sticks and peanut sauce, egg on the top and prawn crackers, perhaps start them with chicken and sweetcorn soup or crab soup and spring rolls too. Takes me back to Cloggyland just thinking of it - drool!
Don't forget to ask about peanut intolerance before hand?

Lizzie's idea is spot on. I've been told it's semi-chic formal. I can see a ghoulash with crusty bread and a green salad working a treat, creamy tomato soup to start them off, zingy dessert and maybe some belgian beer and a red wine. Nice table settings, nice crockery and serving utensils and a really hearty meal.

Cheers babes, for the tips and the ups  Hunting for recipes for goulash, I came across a Beef in Guiness with dumplings recipe. That sounds lush too, maybe just the thing for a bunch of boozy Dutch students. Peculiar Brit cooking  |
