Hi,

I am running Linux on my home pc (hopping from one distro to another) and have yet to find one that works properly with my USB Benq 3000w flatbed scanner.

I am prepared to buy a new budget flatbed scanner and just wondered if anyone knew of a scanner which "just works" out of the box?  Even if it's an oldish scanner i can pickup second hand on ebay?

Cheers

I can't say, except that you're probably best off going to www.ubuntuforums.org and asking there.

Avoid Canon - I bought a swish new scanner of theirs on an impulse only to find it wasn't compatible Sad

I think most distros use SANE as the drivers for scanners, see compatibility list

I have a Benq 5000u and have spent hours on forums following *solutions* and only get nothing but more white hairs as a result.  It's a shame as my scanner is supposed to be supported.
