The HTC Hero is an android-based phone that does phone calls and you can have things on it that do things - I have something on it which gives me up-to-the-minute info on train delays in Tokyo and problems with the bus system in Ontario. You literally never know when you might need it.

ANYWAY. Still no 2.1 update. Cod, you've rooted your Hero, I'm trying to skim some forums to see if it's worthwhile, but do you reckon it's viable? I'm on a £25/month contract until March 2012 so I don't want to f**k it up and have an expensive lump of unuseable plastic for most of that time.......... The current Mrs Wils would not be happy.
