Best BBQ beef ribs
« on: Saturday 03 April 2010, 0957 »
These are so easy to make! Really cheap too. You don't need many ingredients and it cooks away all by its self. This time I remembered to take photos along the way too.....

What you will need:-

1 packet of beef ribs per person (2 if you are not going to have anything else with them)
2 bottles of your favourite bbq sauce
water
salt and pepper

Rub salt and pepper all over your ribs, make sure you don't miss any!

Place all of the ribs into your slow cooker. Make sure that you can close the lid :)

My slow cooker is about 6.5 ltrs. I could probably fit another two packets of ribs in there. If yours isn't as big you can just half the amounts.

Fit your ribs are a little fatty don't worry. It will all melt in the cooking time and help to keep your ribs moist.

Pour over a whole bottle of BBQ sauce. I used honey BBQ sauce for these.

Fill the bottle up to about a quarter and pour that over the ribs too.

Now get your hands in and give them all a good mix up.

Put on medium for about 8 hours.

When they are done they will look like this. See how the meat has shrunk.... I bet you thought that I had gone over the top with the ribs...lol

Place into a dish side by side. Be careful, the meat will be falling off the bones :P

Now we are not done yet......... these are the best ribs ever so we have to do a few more things.

Get some more of the sauce and brush each of the ribs....generously!

Place under a hot grill until the BBQ sauce is bubbling and sticky

Now your ribs are ready to eat! Enjoy :D

That looks fantastic - shame we can't smell them cooking too! We don't have a slow-cooker, any advice on conventional cooking? I am assuming a very low heat for a couple of hours...

Also, in terms of weight: how much should we allow per person..?

I would like to try these :P

I would make a pocket out of tinfoil and pop the ribs inside. Put them in a low oven, maybe 150c for 6 hours, longer if you think they need it. Each one of the packets of ribs is just shy of 1kg so I would say 1kg for each person or 2kgs if you're hungry ;)

Ask the butcher to get you some beef short ribs. They should be able to order some if they don't have any in. :D

Mmmm, they look delish.  I suppose we could use pork ribs if we can't get beef ones.

They look lush, my mouth is watering, and such a great idea with the step by step photies thanks.
I see by the Aquafina water why they are beef ribs  ;)
Fish & chips anyone?

I saw a slow cooker in Tesco's today and was tempted to buy it as it was half price 17.50 but then realised it was only a 3.5Litre which wouldn't have been big enough for my family  :-\
