Accordng to Cambria49's Book "Holyhead to Ireland", Salt Island took its name from the salt works constructed on it, presumably around the late 17th Century. Apparantly Lewis Morris's map of 1746 shows the salt works in ruins.
Does anyone know why salt island is called salt island, how did it get that name?
