Does anyone know why salt island is called salt island, how did it get that name?
IT IS RASCALS BIRTHDAY BEFORE MONKEY FIDDLERS!!! STILL!!!
Oooh, it's all "Wils, Wils, Wils!"
Rascal bach, you have no idea how hard I'm laughing at your last post.  You are so funny.
I think Rascal should apologise for Wils - seriously!

I believe it's from the big signpost just outside Salt Island, which says "Salt Island."
Even now
My thought is clinging as to a lost learning
Slipped down out of the minds of men,
Labouring to bring her back into my soul.

Accordng to Cambria49's Book "Holyhead to Ireland", Salt Island took its name from the salt works constructed on it, presumably around the late 17th Century. Apparantly Lewis Morris's map of 1746 shows the salt works in ruins.

Thank you Wils.

Nooks, please keep your nonsensical comments to yourself.

Local knowledge keeps on expanding, cheers Nooks.

There's a Wiki on Salt Island - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_Island,_Anglesey

repeating more or less what Nooks said earlier in the thread.

I'm actually a bit annoyed that I'm not allowed on Salt Island.  Holyhead's very own Area 51.

Hmm, low tide 1800 Saturday
